UNRWA's unfailing commitment to support Palestinian refugees


The debate was moderated by Riccardo Bocco, Professor of Anthropology and Sociology of Development at the Graduate Institute who shortly introduced M. Krähenbüh’s academic and professional backgrounds. An alumnus of the Graduate Institute, Mr Krähenbühl previously worked as the Director of Operations at the International Committee of the Red Cross from 2002 to 2014.

Romania : in denial about extreme poverty


The Rapporteur pointed out that many Romanian officials right now are in a deep state of denial when it comes to acknowledging the extent of poverty and discrimination towards the most vulnerable groups in the country. The officials struggle to be accountable for the situation: “The spotlight has now been shone dramatically on denial, corruption, inadequate government services, and a lack of official accountability”.

Stateless children in 2015: Urgent action needed!


UNHCR has set the prevention and resolution of childhood statelessness as one of its Campaign to End Statelessness in 10 years’ key goals. But why is statelessness such a big deal? UNHCR, in its recent report “I am Here, I Belong: the Urgent Need to End Child Statelessness” highlighted the experiences of 250 children from 7 countries that have had to grow up stateless.
